Physical Therapy Modalities
These modalities are often used as adjunct therapies to complement your Chiropractic Care Plan. Each technique targets different aspects of soft tissue, muscles, or joint function to alleviate pain, improve mobility, and support overall recovery.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
This technique involves using specialized instruments to mobilize soft tissues, such as muscles and fascia. The doctor will glide these instruments over the skin, identifying and treating areas of scar tissue, adhesions, or restricted movement. IASTM aims to reduce pain, improve range of motion, and promote tissue healing.
Cupping
Cupping therapy involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. This suction pulls the skin and underlying tissues upward, which may help increase blood flow, relax muscles, and reduce pain. It's used to address muscle tension, inflammation, and promote overall relaxation.
Kinesiology Tapping
This involves applying a specialized elastic tape to the skin to provide support to muscles and joints without restricting movement. Kinesiology tape aims to facilitate natural body movement, improve circulation, reduce pain, and provide support to injured areas.
Compression Therapy
This method involves applying pressure to specific areas of the body using specialized garments, wraps, and devices. It aims to improve circulation, reduce swelling, alleviate pain, and aid in recovery from injuries or muscle fatigue.
Flossing
Involves wrapping a compressive band or tape around a joint or muscle and going through various movements. This technique aims to reduce pain, increase mobility, and enhance blood flow by compressing and releasing tissues.
Electrical Stimulation
This modality involves the use of electrical currents to stimulate nerves and muscles for therapeutic purposes. The electrical impulses generated by the machine can help reduce pain, decrease muscle spasms, improve circulation, and promote muscle strength or re-education.
Percussion Massage
Also known as vibration therapy, uses a device that delivers rapid pulses or vibrations to the soft tissues. It aims to alleviate muscle tension, increase blood flow, reduce soreness, and promote relaxation. The rapid, targeted movements help in breaking up knots, improving circulation, and providing relief to tight or sore muscles.
